About this collection

Reclamation Era magazine was first printed as the Reclamation Bulletin in 1905. It was a monthly publication for "supervisory and consulting engineers and experts." In 1908, it was renamed the Reclamation Record and was continued as a monthly. Readership expanded to included irrigation farmers. The magazine not only gave official news of the Bureau of Reclamation, but also included a ladies' column, recipes, social news, plans and drawing for farm buildings and homes ... even items telling how to mix a poison for grasshoppers and how to make curtains from bedsheets. -- From final issue, April 1983
